Another hidden factor is the combination of high rates of pregnancies among teens yearly and low literacy rates among female adolescents (28.2 per 1000 and 58% respectively). Fewer unplanned pregnancies due to improved education would make a big dent in the maternal mortality rates.

I also think the religious practices associated with maternal care in the northern part and some areas in the south also helps skewing this indices negatively coped with absence of even the traditional birth attendant has not helped and like I would always say,we need to learn how to take ownership of our health so when external help comes we would appreciate and access it.
